1978 Vermont Secretary of State Election

The 1978 Vermont Secretary of State Election was held on November 7, 1978. The total votes casted was 120,266. James A. Guest (Democratic) was elected, receiving 58.40% of the votes, which equals 70,240 votes.

The final election result is as follows. James A. Guest of Democratic (58.40%) won with a majority of the votes, defeated Robert H. Gibson of Republican (38.15%) by a comfortable margin of 20.25%.
